Aviador959 was started in 2011 as a hobby. Beekeeping and brewing beer (and mead) was a dream of mine ever since I was a child (okay, maybe not the brewing part). When my wife and I finally purchased a property of our own we were able to make my beekeeping dreams come true. Brewing beer and mead was just the next obvious step as we ended up with more honey than we knew what to do with. We are small-time beekeepers, keeping anywhere from 3-15 hives (depending on the time of year and the impacts of varroa mites, the weather, and swarming) so beekeeping is still a hobby of ours, but a hobby that we love and that fits in with our other hobbies (brewing, gardening, cooking, and woodworking). Our bees contribute to all of our hobbies, providing honey for brewing, pollination for our flowers, sugar (honey) to cook with, and beeswax to use to finish woodworking projects (especially butcher blocks and cutting boards).
Our bees are critical to the products that we create: honey, chapstick, soap, salve, candles, beer, and mead.
Honey: $15/lb $11 for 3/4 lb, $8 for 1/2 lb. (glass or plastic)
Chapstick: $4
Soap: $8
Salve: $8
Candles: not currently for sale
Beer and Mead: not currently for sale
